We went to see the 2D version of the new movie Journey to the Center of the Earth. It kept the kids interest, but I think that the 3D version would have been so much better. We liked the movie even though we made fun of it on the way home. I was very happy that someone finally made a movie for kids that didn’t have any blood in it. Click here for more. . .

Posted by prettysleepy on June 29, 2008
We highly recommend this movie to everyone. It was great! There was nothing in it that would be bad for the kids to see, no swearing, nothing disturbing. It was just plain fun and had everyone in a full theatre laughing!

Kung Fu Panda Review
Posted by prettysleepy on June 24, 2008
We’ve been to see Kung Fu Panda twice now. The kids and I really enjoyed the movie. The second time we took grandma with us and she loved it. As we left she said, “Good movie, very uplifting.” Click here for more: Kung Fu Panda Review and some trivia on Jack Black and Angelina Jolie. I mentioned to my younger son that she has adopted children from different countries and he said, “Oh, I get it. Like souvenirs.”

Stop talking. Please.

Sharon Stone has said the earthquake in China is karma. It might be a VERY good idea for her to never go to China, FOR ANYTHING.
Sharon Stone: … “Well you know it was very interesting because at first, you know, I am not happy about the ways the Chinese were treating the Tibetans because I don’t think anyone should be unkind to anyone else. And so I have been very concerned about how to think and what to do about that because I don’t like THAT. And I had been this, you know, concerned about, oh how should we deal with the Olympics because they are not being nice to the Dalai Lama, who is a good friend of mine. And all these earthquake and all this stuff happened and I thought: IS THAT KARMA? When you are not nice that bad things happen to you. And then I got a letter, from the Tibetan Foundations that they want to go and be helpful. And that made me cry. And they ask me if I would write a quote about that and I said, “I would.” And it was a big lesson to me, that some times you have to learn to put your head down and be of service even to people who are not nice to you. And that’s a big lesson for me.”

Iron Man was a great movie!
Posted by prettysleepy on May 14, 2008

We went to see Iron Man and really enjoyed it. I haven’t ever seen a movie with Robert Downey Jr that made an impact, but he was excellent as Tony Stark. He did a great job. Until I saw Iron Man, I didn’t even realize he was cute. But it turns out, he’s a handsome guy. Who knew? Jeff Bridges did a great job as Obadiah Stane/Iron Monger. You know, we just don’t see enough of him anymore. One of my least favorite actresses, Gwyneth Paltrow (click here to see why), was in the movie. In spite of that, it was definately worth seeing. I thought it was a great story and enjoyed the entire movie. As far as it being OK for kids to watch? I’m not taking mine to see it. I think the PG-13 rating was a wise choice. I think the ‘hole in the chest’ thing would freak out the young ones. As far as the PG-13 rating goes for the ‘action sequences’, it was comparable to the Transformers (with a little more blood).
