Speed Racer Review, Blood & Swearing, Thumbs up!
Posted by prettysleepy on May 11, 2008
I took the kids to see the over-two-hour-long movie, Speed Racer, and they loved it. I was glad it was a long movie because we were really enjoying it. They liked it so much that they convinced their grandma to take them to see it again the next day. She also gave the movie a thumbs up. We all recommend it. However, I do want to comment on the ‘inappropriate’ things that were in the movie. The youngest brother, Spritle, flips the bad guy the bird. Yes, that’s right. A kid sticks up his middle finger in a kids movie. What’s the world coming to? Also, they say the word ASS about three times and HELL a couple of times as well. There is a little blood, where a guy gets beaten by the bad guys while tied to a chair. One guy gets his finger eaten off by piranhas (no, I’m not making this up). It doesn’t show too many details, just blood in the water. It didn’t traumatise my kids, though. Other than these things that I’ve mentioned, the rest of the movie was great. My kids liked the comic relief of the little kid, Spritle, and the monkey. The boy was played by Paulie Litt. They also enjoyed the bad guy’s temper tantrums and the peoples faces floating across the screen as they talked. I liked the way the movie was put together. It was interesting and different. A lot of bright colors and extreme close ups. Click here to see Speed Racer’s Official Website

I’m just easily amused when it comes to movies. I like almost every one I see. With the exception of Bridge to Terabithia (yuck!)

I’m glad somebody else enjoyed watching the film “Speed Racer” as much as I did.
I should really watch it again for two reasons. 1,because I liked it and 2,to spite the naysayers.

The Wachowski bros certainly put a lot of effort into making Speed Racer… the movie overall looked and felt like a cross between anime, a kaleidoscope, that Flintstones movie, a video game and the Dukes of Hazard
